 Knowing the rules and how to play Blackjack are all well and good but there are many other aspects to the game that can make things more fun and enjoyable as well as improving the odds in your favour. Below are possibly the most important Blackjack Tips that you should learn.
  • Even though the closer you get to 21 the better you odds of winning are. Blackjack is not a game to see how close to 21 you can get without going over. Blackjack is a game about having a better hand than the dealer's hand.
  • If you are even the slightest bit unsure about a play in basic strategy make sure you take a Basic Strategy Chart to the casino with you as a reference.
  • That chart will stop you from making a costly mistake.
  • If your playing at a table with someone that can't lose, pay attention to them. They obviously are doing something right.
  • Embrace the rule of 30. The rule of 30 stats that you should not risk more than 1/30th of your bankroll on any one hand of Blackjack.
  • This will ensure that you will be able to survive a period of extended losses.
  • If the dealer shows a 9, 10 or Ace and the table allows it surrend your hand.
  • Insurance is a bad bet unless you happen to be counting cards.
  • Never split 10s, Jacks, Queens or Kings.
  • Always split Aces and 8s.
  • If the dealer shows 3, 4, 5, or 6 and you hand is a 9 double down.
    • If your hand is a 10 and the dealer shows anythig but a 10 or Ace, double down
    • If your hand is an 11 double down on anything except an Ace.
  • When the dealer shows a 7 or lower stand on a hard 17.
  • When the dealer shows a 6 or lower stand on a hard 13 through 16.
  • When the dealer shows a 7 through Ace stand on a hard 13 through 16.
  • When the dealer shows 4, 5, or 6 stand on a hard 12 or more.
  • With the dealer showing a 2, 3, 7 or more Hit a hard 12.
  • When the dealer is showing a 10 hit until you have atleast 17.
  • When the dealer is showing a 10 Hit a soft 17.
  • Playing two or more hands at the same time doesn't not give you an advantage.
  • Your position at the table will only provide an advantage to you if you are counting cards.
  • Always hit soft 13 through 17 when the dealer shows 7 or more.
  • Always hit soft 13 through 17 on hands with 3 or more cards.
  • When dealer shows a 5 or a 6, double down with a two card soft 13 through 17.
  • When dealer shows a 3, double down a soft 17.
  • When dealer shows a 4, Double down a soft 15 through 17.
  • When the dealer shows a 9, 10 or Ace it is best to assume their hole card is a ten and you should hit a Soft 18.
  • When the dealer shows a 2, 7, or 8 you should Hit a soft 18
  • When the dealer shows a 3, 4, 5, or 6 you should double down.
  • Always stand on a Soft 19 or more.
